Introduction
10 minutes |
- As a class hold a quick discussion about ‘The Ashes’ and what they know about this topic.
- Discuss why the series between England and Australia is called the Ashes and discuss. Use ‘A Brief History of the Ashes’ in the Supporting Material section if required to aid discussion.
- Explain that this is an event played every two years and that this year it is back in England.

40 Minutes |
- Open the ‘Who Wants to be an Ashes Centurion Quiz’ in the Activity section and work through the answers as a class or in teams (organisation to be decided by the teacher).
- Work through the questions and after each answer discuss it as a class.
- Start back from the beginning when answering incorrectly to reinforce understanding.

- Move around the class and discuss the quiz and the answers. Get the pupils to list all that they have learnt from the quiz or from the day so far.
