Introduction

- Explain to the class that they will be looking closer at the country of India and England. Ask the children what they think India is like and make a list of similarities and differences between India and England.
- Begin to focus on the weather and also discuss weather in other cricket playing nations. How will the players feel when they come to England for the world cup?
- Explain the main task to be carried out during the lesson.

Main Activity

- After discussing the weather and climates of England and India, provide the pupils with ‘Comparing Weather Data for Portsmouth and Kesharpur’ in the Activity section. Begin by looking at the average temperatures for each month in both localities and then the pupils form a graph to show the data. Both sets of data can be included in the same bar on the graph and then two different colours can be used to colour the graph (one for England & one for India).
- Then move on to look at the rainfall data and do exactly the same with the graph.

- Once finished, discuss the graphs as a class and discuss what they notice with any patterns and the similarities and differences and discuss seasons and climate.

- Carry out the similar activity but focus on the weather data in two separate places within India.
