Introduction
20 minutes |
- Ask the class why people travel to different countries and around the world?
- Ask them what famous monuments they know from around the world and which ones they would like to visit in particular and why? Look at some photos from Internet research and show the children the monuments and discuss.
- Discuss the cricket playing nations in the Supporting Material section and identify them on the Cricket Nations World Map resource. Do the class know of famous monuments in each country? Do not show any photos, but explain the main task to be carried out.

Main Activity

- After discussing this, provide the class with the activity cards cut up from ‘Famous Monuments’ in the Activity section.
- Once they have matched the photos to the correct country, provide them with ‘Names of the Famous Monuments’ in the Activity section, which must be cut up and placed under the correct photo. If the class struggle with this, allow them to search on the Internet to find the monument and corresponding photo to complete the matching activity.

- Move around the class and ensure all groups have managed to match the pictures to the correct countries and also the words.
- Use Answers answers in the Downloads section if required. If the cards are cut out from the paper, the class can stick them in to books to record everything learnt.
